Chris Sutton has predicted in his Daily Record column that Celtic don’t need to sign anyone in order to secure eight in a row.

The former Celtic star believes the squad as it is right now is strong enough to leave all other clubs in their wake for the eighth consecutive season.

However, the BT pundit believes new faces are a necessity if Celtic are to better there chances in Europe going forward.

He wrote: ‘Celtic run the show in Scotland and there isn’t much doubt they should do again. They still have work to do in the transfer market and will add quality, yet the squad as it stands is strong enough to seal eight in a row.’

Celtic kick off their new domestic campaign against Livingston this afternoon, hoping to get off to thr best start possible.

  1. I think everyone with a brain knows this. By the same token we are well short of what we need to go into the next euro ties with any great confidence . That’s why we need to upgrade

  2. C’mon Chris, have you thought this one through? The current Celtic Pool could not maintain the form to win the league. Quality players are required to ensure 8 in a row, never mind a go in Europe. Griffiths and Dembele Injuries are continuous and neither are fit enough to play any time soon. No disrespect to the current squad but as it stands, they will find it difficult to qualify for the Champions League Stages.
Quality Players should have been added before now. You know the old adage, You only reel what you sow… So far Celtic have not sown…

    • Joe, Its the most sensible thing I’ve heard Sutton say for a while. While we’re at it the reports on BBC state Celtic have taken their offer for McGinn off the table and rightly so while Lennon and Hibs are spreading FAKE news of being deluged with interest in him from PL clubs. Mmmm ??

  3. What’s surprising about Suttons prediction? The current squad IS more than good enogh to sweep aside all before us in Scotland,as for the C.L,now that’s a totally different animal. We need a solid reliable defence built around Tierney, which in turn will give our attacking mid to front players, the chance to flourish, knowing that they have that security behind.

  4. Well said Joe, as Celtic have to add to the assembled squad. Based on injurys alone, they need four players. A Striker. Centreback. Sweeper. Right back. Everything or chance of Maybe winning nothing outside the league.
