LEIGH GRIFFITHS has pulled out of Scotland’s double header this month to ‘get fit’.

The Celtic striker hs been criticised by former Parkhead striker Chris Sutton who accused Leigh of looking ‘overweight’ in recent weeks.

Having been called up to Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad the frontman has opted out of playing for his country in order to get into shape.

Speaking about his withdrawal Leigh was clear on what he needs to do.

“I feel that I need to focus on my fitness over this international period and get back into the best possible shape”

The Celtic striker is likely to be at Lennoxtown for the next two weeks building up his own fitness.

Griffiths has been annoyed by the Scotland boss in recent times after the former EBT man McLeish dropped him for Stevie Naismith during the last international break.

McLeish has also stated the player had been ignoring his calls since.

Leigh has obviously put his club football ahead of his country which every Celtic fan will be thrilled to see.
