Chris Sutton has hit out at a claim made by Kris Boyd in his weekly column today on Twitter.

After Boyd stated his thoughts on the competition going ahead, Sutton hit back at the former Rangers and Kilmarnock striker about his reasoning for not seeing the point in it going ahead.

The Englishman has a point and is saying what we all think. If the shoe was on the other foot, do we believe Boyd would be stating this opinion about not seeing the point in the Cup semi-finals going ahead?

Of course not. It would be a completely different story had Rangers been involved but they were of course eliminated from the competition by the bottom of the table side, Hearts in the last round.

A Scottish Cup, semi-final is always an important date on the footballing calendar for the year and whether that be in May or in November this year, clubs will be doing all they can to pick up that final piece of silverware last year.
