Greg Taylor has been one of the shining stars so far this season at Celtic and the defender gave us a bit more insight into his time at the club through a Twitter Q&A earlier this afternoon.

There was questions from many in the support about his ability and whether he had what it took to take his game to the next level but he is continually proving all his doubters wrong.

His stats at the weekend one again emphasised how much he is continuing to develop with the player having the most in match firsts in six categories for 120 touches, 69/88 passes completed, 29 passes in final third, 19/24 duels won, 11x possession won and 5 successful dribbles [@SkySportsStatto].

Taylor briefly touched on his development and the influence which Ange Postecoglou has had on his career so far.

“I think I’ve improved since the manager came in and I’m still always trying to improve. I enjoy playing in the system and I’m enjoying learning it every day,” said Greg Taylor speaking to Celtic’s official Twitter account

There’s many players within the group at the Scottish Champions that could be described as ‘students of the game’ who are continually looking to improve. The Scotland internationals ball to Daizen Maeda typified how much the system that Celtic play benefits him with Taylor picking up the ball in the middle of the pitch to send Maeda on his way.

The 24-year old would be one of the first to admit that there is plenty of quality surrounding him but Postecoglou still needs eleven individuals to carry out their specific job on the park to make things happen.

“It certainly helps! From back to front you’ve got a team of players who have all played their part in our recent success – I could go through everyone individually but it certainly makes my job easier.”

Looking back at the performance on Sunday, one of the nicest touches was Jota’s words about the former Kilmarnock man at the end of the game when he received his man of the match award for another outstanding performance. This is a tight group of players that all have a high level of respect for what each individual brings to the side.

“I think you could see in the interview I was really touched by Jota’s kind words. For him to say that, it did mean a lot. For your teammates to think highly of you there is no better feeling and no better praise.”

It’s all praise which is thoroughly deserved and something that the Celtic fullback will be hoping to continue to build on. He has already won five major honours at the club but has ranked the moment of getting the title over the line at Tannadice last season as his favourite.

“Probably the feeling when we clinched the league title at Dundee United. It was a long, hard graft that season that to go and do it and prove a lot of people wrong was a good moment for us all.”

There will be so much more to come from Taylor this season as he and his teammates get the chance to test themselves in the European footballs top competition. He is an important asset to Ange Postecoglou and Celtic are lucky to have him.
