CELTIC FANS were superb on an emotional day on the Celtic Way where we said our goodbyes to Billy McNeill.
The Celtic Legend passed away ten days go after a long battle with dementia and at the end, he was surrounded by his closest family.
Since Billy’s passing, the football world has been in mourning and many have expressed their gratitude and respect to the man who was nicknamed Cesar.
The Celtic Way was packed as everyone watched Billy’s funeral mass on the TV screen put up especially for the occasion. The Funeral cortege then made its way from the church to Celtic Park where fans were waiting to give Cesar a massive send off.
There were tears, songs and applause as the hearse made its way down the Celtic Way – stopping at the great man’s statue so the McNeill Family could lay a wreath.
The hearse then left Celtic Park as the fans sang ‘In the heat of Lisbon’ – commemorating Billy and the club’s finest hour. God Bless Billy McNeill.
