Off the Ball presenter, Tam Cowan has taken a swipe at Celtic fans AND Peter Lawwell over the transfer of David Turnbull from Motherwell to Celtic.
The BBC radio personality took to his SunSport column over the weekend to call out the Celtic fans who had messaged him calling Turnbull all sorts of names for snubbing a move to Celtic. It would transpire the player would end up in Celtic Park on Friday morning, tying up the last few details of his contract. While he’s yet to be announced as an official Celtic player the formalities should be complete by tomorrow.
Tam Cowan, a Motherwell fan has obviously caught some of the misdirected flak over the transfer saga but I don’t think he cares about receiving abuse as he names the culprits who were over the top in their correspondence with the radio pundit.
He believes the Celtic fans who have gave him abuse and questioned Turnbull’s motives have been shown up to be two-faced and the soon to be Celtic player deserves an apology.
“Let’s hope a couple of Celtic fans who emailed yours truly this week also have a kind word — and maybe even a wee apology — for the player.” He told SunSport.
“Yes, I’m talking about you — Mark from Rutherglen and Big Chic in Paisley — who, when it appeared Turnbull had snubbed Celtic for Norwich, insisted he was “a sh*te, money-grabbing bluenose” (Mark) and a “total dud from a wee p*shy team in Lanarkshire” (Big Chic).
“Tell the truth, Bhoys, how many faces did you have to shave this morning? Perhaps Peter Lawwell also required an extra razor.”
There were plenty who called Turnbull’s desire into question when he appeared to choose an instant cash grab over coming to Celtic and developing further with a move coming down the line.
