Brendan Rodgers brought him in back in January and there was always the hope he may stay on past this season but circumstances meant Timo Weah’s Celtic career was short-lived.

The American international returned to France after the Under 20 World Cup this summer and the French giants told him his future belonged elsewhere.

Tonight the attacker sealed a permanent move away from PSG and has joined Lille on what is being billed as a £10m transfer. Weah stays in France and will now get the chance to show what he can do for his new club. The lad has so much potential but Celtic would struggle to justify the price tag for potential alone.

For Celtic and Neil Lennon it was never going to be on the cards after what transpired towards the end of the season. The Irishman was unimpressed by Weah’s unwillingness to do do what it took to stay at Celtic for the Scottish Cup final.

We wish the wee man all the best for the future.
