Arsenal and their supporters have been fawning over their left-back over the past month and for good reason. Kieran Tierney has shaken off his injury woes to emerge as one of the standouts since coming back from the shutdown.

The former Celtic player has shown what he can do and is really becoming a fan favourite at Arsenal. The stories about the defender coming out about his intensity in training certainly a by-product of his time at Celtic.

However, his talent has never been in doubt. I saw over the weekend some Arsenal fans in disbelief they managed to land the left-back for only £25m and what’s more, there was nobody else really vying for his signature.

This speaks to an issue Celtic need to make sure they remember the next time a club comes calling from one of our top stars. In Premier League money £25m is nothing these days, you have guys like Harry McGuire being signed up for upwards of £75m after all.

Yes, the Scottish league puts an imaginary cap on a fee we can receive for a player but when the likes of Edouard and Ajer are being courted by clubs, we must point to the rise of Kieran Tierney who will no doubt move on from Arsenal at some point to even bigger things.

We’re proving we can develop high calibre players who shouldn’t be going for under the market value in which the buying clubs operate.
