MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI has been growing more and more into his role at Celtic since coming int other club at the start of September – the Norwegian had an alright start but he has kicked it up the gears during October and at the start of November he ran the show against Hibernian.

Inevitably, because he is only on loan there have been calls from some Celtic supporters for the club to try and sign the player on a permanent deal already.

Neil Lennon has been coy on any talk about bringing Moi in on a full time basis and we may have just found the reason why.

According to Spotrac, the 25-year-old is on a guaranteed £3,120,000 which is a whopping £60,000 per week at Southampton. This doesn’t take into account any bonuses or clauses written into his contract. Meaning it would take Celtic breaking their wage structure and their transfer record to sign the player – it ain’t going to happen.

From our point of view – Moi is the type of player we should be targeting on-loan; someone who the club couldn’t afford on a permanent deal but can benefit from their talents for a season.

Celtic will break the bank under certain circumstances – they brought Odsonne Edouard in for a lot of cash but he was younger and they took a calculated risk on the lads talent.

We should enjoy Elyounoussi while he’s here and not fixate on trying to get him on a permanent deal.

  1. I couldn’t agree more pal. He’s been great but I’d hate to see us spend that kind of money on him. IMO he’s great but not worth nearly double what we paid for French Eddy.
