The reports on Ideguchi’s Celtic future didn’t surprise me. There have been rumbling of a few J-League clubs keeping an aye on the Japanese midfielder’s situation at Celtic.

The J-League finished up last month and the clubs are now planning for next season. It’s the prefect time for a Japanese club to pick up Yosuke and get him ready for the new season.

The midfielder came in with both Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda but has made zero impact at the club. Unfortunate injuries at pivotal times meant Yosuke didn’t get his opportunity and now it looks as if his time at Celtic will be cut short.

We know Ange won’t stand in the way of Yosuke this January and nor should he. The Australian took a punt on the player 12 months ago after a less than impressive season in the J-League, and sometimes these things don’t work out.

Ange’s hit list when it comes to player signings is pretty good. He has signed some outstanding players for Celtic and from the J-League, but there’s always going to be failures.

When we spoke to Japanese based pundits last year, they raved about Reo and Daizen and referred to Yosuke as a punt. It’s turned out to be spot on.

There’s no shame in the midfielder not making it at Celtic. Sometimes these things just don’t work out.
