Celtic had to submit their squad to the UEFA last night ahead of their crunch Champions League tie with Hapoel Be’er Sheva. It made for some interesting reading.

Products of the club’s youth system are included in List B, which is reserved for young players, freeing up room for other players on the main list.

Patrick Roberts has made the squad even though there are severe doubts he’ll be able to play in either tie. However, the glaring omission is Kris Commons who Brendan Rodges has dropped completely from his side.

The midfielder has been injured and struggling to get fit as the Rodgers Revolution takes place. This puts the former Scottish international in a precarious position. The train may have left the station without him. When he is fully fit we will see if Rodgers rates the players on-field contribution.

A squad slot has also been left open for a potential wild card position which could be filled by a player brought into the club before the tie.

Here is the full list for the double header.

  1. Brendan has already stated he has watched all the games from the Delia era, I wonder if he saw Commons tantrum when he was substituted, throwing his bib and shouting at Collins, aligned to his poor fitness and weight issues, age and figured out that Commons ain’t gonna be able to put a full shift in with Brendan high intensity pressing game……best days by him, time to move him on

  2. He shouldn’t have been offered a new deal. Deila was the manager and should not have been allowed to be disrespected by Commons, nor Commons offered a 2 year deal when the manager didn’t want him. Who was playing at being manager of the club?

Commons had been a good servant to the club before then though and has quality if he decides to work for it.

  3. I really like Commons, thin k he is one of our better players tbh,

I had heard he had lost over a stone in recent weeks following a talk with the manager.

I hope his omission doesnt mean the end for him at the club

  4. Chris Commons is the best midfield player at the club, he can hit devastating passes, can score great
goals and needs to be given a chance by Brendan Lets face it how many chances has Effie been given over the last 3 years.

  5. Yes, for me Kris Commons is about the best mid-fielder at Celtic Park. He may not be fit at the moment ,but, even 60 minutes of him on the park is better than having McGregor for 90 minutes. Commons can see a pass and deliver it and can also score goals. He may not be the fastest, but his brain makes -up for it. Remember a few of our older players in the past had no pace but knew how and when to pass. .H.H.

  6. Kris Commons is a Celtic player and I think unless the manger states otherwise as a Celtic family we should close ranks and keep our feelings private. Too many rags come on these sites to lift thoughts and turn them into stories. Hail Hail.
And we have all had wee tantrums even wee Joe Miller.
