Celtic earned an impressive victory over St Mirren on Wednesday evening, with a final score of 4-0, thanks to a masterful performance by Ange Postecoglou’s team.

A lot of the talk pre and post match was the omission of Giakoumakis, something the Celtic manager moved to clear up, claiming the striker was out injured.

However, there were more players missing that made for interesting reading.

30th October 2022 ; Almondvale Stadium, Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland: Scottish Premier League football, Livingstone versus Celtic: Moritz Jenz of Celtic

Moritz Jenz was nowhere to be seen in the Celtic squad for the game against St Mirren. Because Giakoumakis was the focus of everyone’s attention, nobody asked Ange why the centre-back had missed out on a place in the squad.

The German defender hasn’t played a game since the SPFL restart after the World Cup. There is a chance he was picked up an injury, but we don’t know.

Nevertheless, Kobayashi coming into the starting XI and putting in an assured performance put Moritz further down the defender list.

As it stands right now, the big defender will be heading back to Lorient at the end of the season.

There’s no doubt Jenz has played his part in this season. He’s made 19 appearances in all competitions, including ALL of Celtic’s Champions League ties. It’s difficult to see where he fits in, unless Stephen Welsh is sold this month.

Can Jenz play a part in the rest of the season?
