It has been a wonderful few weeks for Neil Lennon and his team. European football in the new year is already wrapped up, the Bhoys are in another cup final and they are still top of the league going into the international break.

When you think of the over the top meltdown that took place a few weeks ago from some people after a shock 2-0 loss at Livingston, hopefully, some lessons will be learned.

There is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of May, there will be more shock defeats between now and then, it happens at every football club. Don’t panic.

Motherwell can be a dogged team to break down and coming off the back of an away European trip, this fixture today could have been potentially a banana skin for the Hoops. The truth is it was a bit of a stroll, Celtic players never really exerted themselves and just done exactly enough to take all three points.

Celtic scored their first goal today on 19 minutes when Elyounoussi put a pass into the box for Forrest who found Edouard to slot the ball home for a 1-0 lead for half-time.

The second half and second goal on the 54th minute was not so pretty, a Jonny Hayes cross got turned into his own net by Tait. Celtic had a few more chances before the final whistle but they just did what they needed to do to see this game out.

The Champions will head into the international break now on top of the table by goal difference.
