JOHN GUIDETTI has opened up about his time at Celtic and how his honesty got him into trouble halfway through his loan season.

John played under Ronny Deila and was on-loan from Manchester City at the time when he was banging in goals. With the Swede’s contract running down its final year, John confirmed he was offered a Celtic deal by club management but he turned it down.

The former Celtic striker revealed what happened next.

“In my loan spell at Celtic, the club played a nasty game with me. In the winter, the club management offered me a contract, but I declined that,” Guidetti confirmed to Record Sport.

“The Scottish league was good for me to get fully fit, but my goal was always to play in England or Spain because I consider those two competitions to be the best in the world.

“Because of that, at Celtic I ended up in the stands. It was a real pity because Celtic are a terrific club and their fans deserved a better farewell from me,”

A lot of Celtic fans went off the Swede when he admitted he was better than playing in Scotland. There was a notable dip in his performances during the second half of the season although he did score a belter against Inter Milan at Celtic Park to draw level in injury time. on a night where it ended 3-3.

John has been playing his football in Spain and for whatever reason, never reached his full potential.
