Let’s face it, not a single transfer window ever passes without Celtic’s most prized asset rumoured to be leaving the club for a big money deal. Celtic fans are used to rumours of Kieran Tierney been linked with moves to England, Spain and more recently France.

What they are not used to is reading sums that are under 20 million pounds. Yesterday The Sun claimed Arsenal had made an offer for the Celtic left-back for a mere 15 million. If the headline is true, it doesn’t just insult Celtic but the whole of Scottish football.

When players like Luke Shaw cost over 30 million pounds it can only be Arsenal’s disdain for Scottish Football that they think that one of the countries best players is worth 15 million. They have also mistaken the Bhoys for a club that is desperate for cash to accept such a low offer.

KT is no longer a development player, he no longer a prospect with plenty of potential. He has already proved himself at the top level for club and country. He is much more to the fans than just a left-back, he breeds Celtic and he has a special relationship with the fans, he represents them on the pitch. Any club making offers for him should consider all these factors before placing a value on him. They should then take that figure and note that no Celtic fan wants their player sold for any amount of money.

He might have just had a season plagued with injury, but that doesn’t mean you get to half his value. Over ten clubs have been linked with moves to Kieran in the last few seasons, the fee has never been under 20 million pounds.
