Celtic will host the first Glasgow Derby of the season next term and if things aren’t back to normal that game will be played either behind closed doors or with a small number of supporters allowed into the game. A far cry from the 60,000 Celtic support belting out You’ll Never Walk Alone and making as much noise as possible.

The only saving grace is the SPFL have the scope to play the game as late as October in the first round of fixtures. This would give the game a fighting chance of having as large a crowd as possible.

Someone in the media brought up moving the games to later in the year to ensure there are supporters present, Neil Lennon thought it might be an option used by the league. However, the media have run with it and are actually attributing the idea to Neil Lennon, making the claim that the Celtic manager’s idea had been shot down. It wasn’t his idea at all.

Of course, if you play for a side who just can’t get that top spot, you need any advantage you can get; a half full or empty Celtic Park would suit some. Whatever happens, we’re positive the team will be up for it, regardless.
