Moritz Jenz could be described as one of Celtic’s most underrated signings during the summer transfer window with the defender set to start against Real Madrid tonight.

The 23-year old joined the Hoops on a season-long loan deal with an option-to-buy from French side FC Lorient.

Having spent majority of his youth career playing at Fulham alongside current Celtic teammate Matt O’Riley, his senior career only got kickstarted 2020 when he made the move to FC Lausanne-Sport.

During his time in Ligue 1, he came up against some top quality teams which included a draw against PSG with Lionel Messi and co playing.

The German defender is no stranger to playing against top players with that experience hopefully serving him well to take on the current European champions at Celtic Park this evening under the disco lights.

He made the switch to Glasgow’s east end on the same day as Aaron Mooy but has featured fairly regularly since coming in having played five games and scoring two goals.

With Carl Starfelt set to be out for a few weeks with a knee injury, Jenz will be the man to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers at the back.

Both look comfortable with each other as a pairing and it was vitally important that Celtic brought in somebody of his quality to further enhance the squad.
