Kris Boyd has developed a talent for making matter of fact statements for only the exact opposite to happen. There are too many to list, but let’s just use his Leigh Griffiths statement this season to highlight an ongoing pattern.

Boyd, through grinning smirking teeth, said that Griffiths had four weeks to save his career. Leigh, who was returning from a long lay off in football, was working on his fitness and match sharpness to get himself back on track. His form in 2020 has been a breath of fresh air; the striker bagged himself a hattrick in his last game for the Hoops.

Boyd left with egg on his face once again. But, it doesn’t stop him; he seems happy enough to be made a laughing stock over and over. His latest piece for The Sun has all the makings of pure stupidity. The pundit has used his weekend quota of ink to attack Hearts over coming out and asking for financial help during a pandemic that is sure to affect every single club in Scotland.

Maybe he makes a fair point about players been asked to bear the brunt, but in Kris Boyd fashion he goes onto say everyone could see Hearts were in financial trouble long before the Coronavirus.

“Given their fairly recent administration, Hearts have an absolute cheek asking staff to take such a savage reduction in their wages.

This is a club who have had a financial meltdown within the last ten years and promised not to make the same mistakes again.

Clearly lessons have not been learned.”

“Instead of watching every penny they spend, they have once again spent well beyond their means. Coronavirus or not, it was only a matter of time before Hearts had the begging bowl out.”

The question on all Celtic fans lips after these comments are how he feels his old club/new club that plays out of Ibrox are going to survive in these testing times. After all, they have recorded growing losses for over seven years now. If you took his statement and replaced Hearts with Rangers* there really is no difference.

A lot of clubs all over the world will struggle to stay afloat without any revenue. If any club is going to hit the wall during this pandemic, it will be the one crying out for the season to be null and void.

Bookmark this Boyd masterpiece so he can be force-fed his own words again.
