It is hard for me to believe that over 20 years have passed since I last stood in the Jungle to watch a competitive match. The date was 15th May 1993 and Celtic’s opponents for this league fixture was Dundee.

Celtic lined up as follows

Marshall, Smith, Boyd, Fulton, Wdowczyk, Galloway, Slater, McStay, McAvennie, Creaney, Collins.

The match was labelled as the Jungle’s last stand to celebrate the end of the Famous old terracing.

A crowd of around 20,000 saw The Bhoys emerge winners by 2-0 with goals scored shortly after half time by Paul McStay and Frank McAvennie.

The event was most memorable for the parading of Celtic greats rather than the football on offer as fans reminisced of the halcyon days spent on the famous old terracing.

I took my place as usual  but needless to say that by then the atmosphere of the old place had been stolen from us.

Why not share your favourite Jungle moments – if you were lucky enough to ever have paid it a visit.
