The English have a long long history of insulting Scottish football for as long as I can remember. The latest insult comes via a £25m price tag on the Scottish games best player, Odsonne Edouard.

The Daily Star is this morning claiming that both Arsenal and Everton are battling each other for the Celtic forward’s signature at a cut-price. The price is not the only thing that is insulting. Both clubs are two mid-table teams (this season) neither will be playing European football next season. Why would they think Edouard would drop to that level and why do they think Celtic would be giving such a huge discount if they did decide to sell him.

With 62 goals in 126 games, Neil Lennon has said during the lockdown that extending Edouard’s contract is the club’s main priority. Sure, this lockdown will have all kinds of negative effects on Celtic’s bank balance but I don’t think we are quite at the fire sale stage yet.

Kieran Tierney was sold to Arsenal last summer for £25m. If that is the price of the left-back why on earth wold Celtic consider anything under £40m?

  1. Extend contract. We let Dembele go for peanuts.
When Odsonne wants to go, the fee will be nothing less than £75 million (probably more) and it will not be to middle of the table strugglers like Arsenal or Everton. English clubs, like Trump, need a dose of realism.
