The knee jerk reaction to Thursday night’s result is very much still happening.

The bhoys capitulated in the Europa League and the fans are rightfully angry about the way we exited our second European competition this season.

While I’m still upset and hurting after the night’s events, I’m trying to gain perspective in what this result does to us in the long run. Domestically, I don’t think it will harm us, BUT I think this result could have bigger implications in the summer for pour prized asset.

Odsonne Edouard has been a man on a mission and while he didn’t have his best games against Copenhagen, he has been Celtic’s talisman who is helping us towards nine in a row.

However, the talented striker will be as disheartened as the rest of us and if our Euro ambition stops at the last 32 of the Europa League, I can’t see us holding onto Eddy this summer when big clubs start circling the player.

When you can’t keep a hold of a homegrown talent in Kieran Tierney with the dangling carrot of ten in a row, then you can rest assured that’s not going to enter Eddy’s thinking come the summer.

This summer was always going to be the Odsonne Edouard will he, won’t he transfer window. Right now, my head says he will, but my heart says ‘one more season’.

If we win the league we have another bite at the Champions League and it could transpire the same way as Moussa Dembele’s exit. Celtic falling short and selling on a player to make up for the gap in funds – a player who is happy to leave now there’s no Champions League.

Right now, we have a domestic league and cup double still on the table after clinching the League Cup earlier this term. Let’s hope whatever happens in the summer; we’ll be looking back at Edouard’s contribution this season and hailing his impact as we celebrate the nine.

  1. This is going to be the same team led by brown and co to qualify for Europe again as slow as a week in remand, buying players that no cunt has seen play , and don’t want to buy a 15 million pound player yet want to sell any at 20 million ,and then wonder what’s happening its 2020 we need to get to fuck out of the penny tray for players, our way now needs to be buy at 10 million and should we sell for 11million that has to be the way from now on., any cheaper players have to be for development only.

  2. I’m not sure Edouard will go this summer. Ive noticed he’s looked happier for last few months. I suspect it’s that there are a few French players/speakers in the team . He’ll be hurting today as should all the players but with a few new records close and he’s still developing maybe we can keep him for a wee while longer.
