BOBBY MADDEN has been given the green light and responsibility of refereeing this weekend’s Glasgow Derby but not everyone is happy with that decision.

Madden was the man in the middle the last time these two sides clashed at Celtic Park and thanks to his incompetence and incomprehensible decision not to award Celtic a late penalty, the bhoys dropped two points at home.

Here is the footage of that incident.

With Celtic not at their best and The Rangers able to sneak a late equaliser the bhoys charged forward in search of a very late winner. Leigh Griffiths thought he was about to do just that and pull the trigger five yards from goal, only to be mowed down by Clint Hill – a penalty decision that was so easy to give, Stevie Wonder is still bemoaning the decision nine months on.

Speaking after that game Leigh told the media Madden actually asked him if Hill had touched the ball.

“It was a penalty. He has not touched the ball and the referee is asking me afterwards if he touched the ball.” exclaimed Leigh.

Cue the ‘If you’re good enough, the referee doesn’t matter’ brigade. Of course, that rings true but you can’t always be at your best and when you aren’t the least you should expect is for the referee to get the big decisions correct.
