Celtic have still got a bit more to do if they are to get to the next round of the Europa League, but they’ve given themselves a great chance by taking a two nil lead to Holland next week.

The bhoys played some great stuff and rightfully won the game on the night against a decent Alkmaar side.

One man who was a contender for man of the match was Anthony Ralston. Kyogo got the nod because of his goal and assist but the defender was right up there and was praised on social media for his performance.

The defender was everywhere, defending when he had to and up the other end of the pitch taking it to the byline even in added time at the end of the game. His performances as of late have certainly caught the eye of the Celtic support.

The Hoops take a two nil lead to Alkmaar because of Anthony’s dedication and wherewithal to defend with his life. The one clip that sums up the player’s current form has to be the one below.

Alkmaar look on for a goal when the ball is flashed across the goal but Ralston quickly deals with it, smashing it away.

Long may his good form continue. Josip Juranovic is due to sign but he might have to wait his turn.

  1. Ralston’s been sent out on loan and didn’t excel. He’s seen the extremely average Jonjoe Kenny picked ahead of him, but he’s at the club where he wants to be and he’s playing his heart out. No one on that pitch tonight gave more or put more energy into their game than the much maligned Tony Ralston. If you watched tonight’s game and were asked which full back was in the international squad, you certainly wouldn’t have picked Taylor ahead of Ralston.

  2. The past season my mind was, whatever the question is, Anthony Ralston is not the answer, and at the time I was right.
    What a turn around.
Bobby Petta and The Blessed MON come to mind.
Yet again a valiant performance from the Bhoy.
Great to see such man/player/person management By Big Ange, but it’s more outstanding to see such commitment to improvement and dedication to the jersey by young Anthony.

  3. Anthony Ralston is a big strong lad and he is now showing us what he can do with his skill and his reading of the game that is some thing we have been missing his positional play is exceptional he is up and down that pitch on attack and then in defence he making that RB position his own he is not going give it up easy,he gets goals and has is own tricks he could even play as right sided attacking midfielder..
Just shows you when some one has trust in you what you can do a gem he is.
