It’s out there and advertised on BeIn Sports and widely talked about in the press but Celtic themselves have yet to confirm they are heading to France in an official capacity. Neil Lennon and Gavin Strachan have also spoken about heading out on pre-season to France, so why have the club yet to announce this?

Our Celtic source has told us the club are waiting on an announcement from the Scottish Government on Thursday which will pave the way for the team to fly out to France.

As it currently stands, anybody coming back into the country will have to self-isolate for two weeks. Given Celtic are pencilled in for a game on July 21 – that would leave players unavailable for their first game of the season against Hamilton at the start of August.

The club are confident the decision on an air bridge opening up between Scotland and France which would allow free movement and no isolation time upon their return will be taken in the coming days. Once that’s confirmed, Celtic will likely issue a press communication.
