Celtic’s silence this season has created a massive vacuum filled with rumours and hearsay.

The Hoops support have been left to fend for themselves when it comes to what’s going on at their club. First, it was the manager’s future, then it was the Dubai debacle and now it’s we’re waiting on a new manager, a new DoF and we just don’t know when these announcements are coming.

One rumour that’s died down a lot since January is Ross Desmond’s potential appointment to the board.

Football Insider among other publications reported the son of majority shareholder Dermot Desmond would take a hands-on role in the club post-Neil Lennon.

Given most board members have been at the club for over a decade, a shakeup inside the boardroom wouldn’t go a miss.

Since Neil Lennon left his post, the rumour mill has been dominated by who will be the next manager and DoF. Nothing has been made of change at boardroom level. – is that by design?

While I’m not fighting the case for any one person to join the board, I am saying some of these men have had their day as custodians of the club and should step down with Peter Lawwell.

We need a fresh approach and people with a real hunger to drive this club forward. People become jaded in their roles over time and while the board members in question are all Celtic fans, they should recognise themselves, it’s time for a change.
