Well, where do I start with our captain.

Many fans, including myself, had written Broony off last season. Under Deila, Scott Brown was playing through the pain barrier with an injury for the good of the team. We watched as he looked, jaded and frustrated especially after Sevco managed to beat us on penalties.

The clock seemed to be ticking down on his Celtic career, his peak hit under Strachan and Lenny. However, nobody told Scott this!

After recovering from injury and all the little niggles that have plagued him the last few season’s coupled with Brendan Rodgers influence the midfielder is turning in some of the best performances he’s had in a Celtic jersey.

The former Scottish international was pivotal in the Man City game, and in the last Sevco game when he put wee Joey Barton to the sword.

Yesterday was no different, our captain bossed the midfield. Mopped up anything that needed to be, was strong in the tackle and on the ball. There were times when certain Sevconians were trying to barge through him and knock him off the ball with sheer force – Broony just wouldn’t budge.

Channeling all his aggression in the right way our captain lead by example and his confidence quickly filtered through to the rest of the team.

The man wee bought from Hibs for £4.4million is due a testimonial next year. If he keeps playing like yesterday he’s certainly got a few years left in a Hoops jersey.
