CELTIC look like they have said goodbye to Mikael Lustig unless something materially changes over the coming days we now put the count at FIVE Celtic defenders who have now left the club.

Dedryck Boyata, Fillip Benkovic, Cristian Gamboa, Emilio Izaguirre and Mikael Lustig – that’s more than a whole defence!

Celtic are due back to training this Monday with the players who took part in international duty being afforded some more time off. With the Champions League qualifier draw on Tuesday, the clock is now ticking on the bhoys bringing in reinforcements.

Given the lower level of the teams in the Champions League qualifiers at this stage there’s a real possibility the club could come up against a club with an artificial surface and if that were to be the case, some of the defenders we have right now would not be risked on the surface.

The frightening reality right now is if we were to draw a club with a synthetic pitch we’d have to leave Keiran Tierney and Jozo Simunovic behind. This means right now, we could have a back four of Jonny Hayes, Kristoffer Ajer, Jack Hendry and Tony Ralston for one of the most important games of our season.

Celtic must look to bring in defensive reinforcements immediately.
