There is a surreal atmosphere at Celtic Park tonight as Celtic fans stage a silent protest at the rumoured appointment of Bernard Higgins to the Celtic staff.

Celtic Park is renowned for its atmosphere but especially on European nights. A combination of silence from the stands and an alternate starting eleven is creating a strange atmosphere tonight in Glasgow.

We have seen a lot of banners over the past few months in relation to Higgins and tonight’s banner from the stands highlights the real silence from Celtic Park that comes from the Celtic boardroom.

Stephen Welsh gave the Hoops an early lead tonight from a corner to make it 1-0. This alternative starting eleven has performed better than expected considering they have never played together before.
Liam Scales has been a standout in the first half, if any player is forcing themselves into the managers first team the Irishman has done himself no harm with his goal the weekend and his first-half performance tonight.
