Celtic are a football club who have had some excellent players from the Asian region passing through their ranks. Some have made more of an impact than others, and there are currently a couple starring for the team as Celtic continues to lead the way in the Scottish Premier League.

Shunsuke Nakamura

Is there a better player to kick off this list than with Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura? Nakamura spent four seasons with Celtic between 2005 and 2009, and in that time, anyone partaking in online football betting would have been in a good position when backing Celtic to not only win games but lift the title too, as they did so three times while Nakamura was at the club. In terms of what Nakamura brought to the table where his qualities as a footballer are concerned, he was superb at set pieces, could dribble, and had an eye for goal. Kyogo Furuhashi1.jpeg

Kyogo Furuhashi

Kyogo Furuhashi is a current Celtic player who plays as either a winger or a striker. He joined the club in 2021 for a reported £4.5 million from Vissel Kobe and hasn’t looked back since, with his current record an impressive twenty-two goals in thirty-three outings. Celtic are very much in a great place right now as the dominating force in Scottish football, and Furuhashi is a big part of that. And at twenty-seven years old, he’s got plenty more years in the tank and will no doubt continue to deliver the goods in front of goal.

Reo Hatate

Reo Hatate is another current Celtic player who has been seriously impressing since he arrived at the club earlier this year. The midfielder, who manager Ange Postecoglou knew all about before arriving at Celtic Park, signed for a fee of £1.4 million from Kawasaki Frontale, where he had made over sixty appearances and scored ten goals. And you could suggest that it was great business from Celtic as Hatate isn’t only proving his worth in general, he’s being recognised for doing so, especially after he netted twice and made an assist against Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers. At twenty-four, you could also argue that Hatate will only improve as time progresses.

Daizen Maeda

And, we end our list with another mention of a current player from the Asian region who is impressing for Celtic now and integral to their success. Like Hatate, Maeda is quite a recent arrival, with the twenty-five-year-old who can play wide or as a striker, initially signing on loan in last season’s winter transfer window before the move became permanent in the summer. So, you could say that Celtic fans were treated to a showing of what they could expect to see from the Japan international before he officially became a full-time player for the club. And they undoubtedly will have been impressed, and this will have continued to be the case. Again, he’s another expert acquisition from Postecoglou.
