It’s Celtic’s worst-kept secret—Kieran Tierney has signed a pre-contract agreement to return to the club this summer.

CeltsAreHere Extra Time confirmed the news before Brendan Rodgers casually mentioned in his press conference that an agreement was in place for KT to come back in the summer. However, despite all this, Celtic have yet to officially announce the deal.
Normally, when a club secures a high-profile pre-contract, they make a big deal of it. Across the city, Rangers had no issue announcing Lyall Cameron’s signing from Dundee, embargoing the news until 3pm on deadline day. So why haven’t Celtic done the same with Tierney?
There’s been no social media post, no statement, and no club confirmation—just Rodgers’ offhand comment during a press conference.
He has made a few comments since, and even after the window has said that Tierney will return in the summer. So there’s no doubt a deal has been struck.
Celtic pushed to bring Tierney back in January, but Arsenal refused to sanction an early return, keeping him at the Emirates until the end of the season. Given the lack of game time Tierney has had—and Arsenal’s reluctance to use him—it was frustrating that a deal couldn’t be facilitated before the deadline.
That said, there’s no reason why Celtic shouldn’t officially acknowledge the agreement. Fans want clarity, and leaving things in limbo only adds to the confusion.
Even Rodgers’ handling of the situation was odd. He didn’t celebrate the move, he didn’t build excitement, and instead, it felt like a passing comment rather than a major announcement.
Given Tierney’s status as a fan favourite, Celtic would normally be expected to hype up his return. Instead, there’s an unexplained radio silence from the club.
Aaron Haire, if you’d been paying attention, you’d have heard Rodgers say that Tierney is coming back in the summer. He has confirmed it!
Not getting him from Arsenal on loan until then is Arteta being a hun. Plain and simple.
He’d rather cost Arsenal money than help us out.
This is why Arsenal will never win the league with him as manager.
OR it could be that Arteta is a good manager and knows he has good backup in Tierney should he be beset with injuries. If he loses Tierney in this window he has to pay megabucks to replace him. The cheaper option is actually to let Tierney contract run down. Nothing to do with playing for Rangers really, just common sense
