Derek McInnes has upset an awful lot of Ibrox fans after his latest Celtic comments about a ‘title race’.

The Aberdeen boss and his side currently sit three points away from Celtic and the Ibrox club at the top of the table with Celtic having a game in hand – but when asked about if there was a genuine title race going on, the Dons boss shot it down, quickly!

“I don’t think there is a title race. I’m not sure anyone can say that, even if we would all want that.” McInnes told RecordSport.

“After 21 games, it shows there is a real credibility at the moment, but it falls short of a real title race.

“i think Celtic are the most likely to stretch away, but every team is finding it difficult to get away and get those winning runs going.

“Where we are is where we normally tend to be in terms of our points tally.

“We are better than some years, maybe a bit behind compared to others.

“It’s that Celtic have came back to us, but that’s not to say Celtic have deteriorated, it’s more other teams are making it difficult.”

Celtic have their game in hand against St Johnstone where they could pull three points ahead. McInnes has seen this before and knows that even though it’s tighter than expected, Celtic always pull away in the second half of the season.

The bhoys away form has been woeful so far this campaign, you have to imagine it will improve in the new year and this is where the bhoys will pick up more points and gradually pull away.

The SPFL is currently on winter shutdown, and from experience, the whole place goes mad with no football to be played. After the Ibrox club made two veteran signings, some are already handing them the league title. Madness.

McInnes’ comments have not gone down well with Gers fans.

Derek McInnes says there ISN’T a title race as he backs Celtic to pull away.

Another said: Derek Mcinnes is an absolute f***ing loser. Genuine loser mentality, what a fuckin joke manager.

All this from a club who have come third to them the past two seasons. Oh Dear.
