Massive fan media outlet ‘Empire of the Kop’, boasting over £1.9m followers on Twitter alone, has taken time to praise the Celtic fans for their trip to Anfield at the weekend.

The bhoys took a bumper crowd down to Liverpool for a charity tie between Liverpool and Celtic. With all due respect to the Celtic side that went out to raise funds, most of them could not be described as legends. However, those lads pulling on the Hoops was enough for the support to pack their backs and head south for the game.

The match itself was contested well. Steven Gerrard attempting to rile the Celtic support, who had spent their money to raise funds for the LFC Foundation and many charities, was rather tasteless on the day. So were a couple of Celtic fans that thought it was ok to throw their drinks at the former Covid title winner. Other than that, the game was played in good spirits, and both sets of fans enjoyed their day. The match ended 2-0 to Liverpool; however, I’d love VAR to pore over our offside goal and a handball decision ;).

The link-up for You’ll Never Walk Alone and the much-maligned Tories were getting it in the neck from both sets of supporters.

Empire of the Kop posted a video of the Hoops fans doing the huddle and described the Celtic support as ‘boss’.

We wanted to highlight it because the usual media outlets have gone with the Gerrard nonsense and overlooked the charity aspects, as well as the Hoops fans being praised from many Liverpool quarters.
