Neil Lennon has given his biggest hint yet he expects John McGinn NOT to be a Hibs player by next week.

The Irishman hasn’t been enjoying the speculation and interest around his star player over the past month and came good on his promise to play John in the Europa League qualifiers, making him ineligible for any of Celtic’s CL qualifiers.

Many expected to see the midfielder sit out the game due to the interest from Celtic but the former Parkhead boss remained defiant.

Speaking about John afterwards, Neil was happy to see him playing well but admitted his days at Hibs look numbered, hinting he expect Celtic to come in with a third bid.

He said: “I was also pleased with John, the best thing was to get him playing and focusing on his job.

“He looked fit and his passing was good and showed he’s very much a Hibs player.

“That may change in the next week with a club or any other club that may come in for him.

  1. Under no circumstances should we be paying for McGinn in this window.

    1. They have deliberately cup tied him when they had the tie in the bag from the first leg in their Euro qualifier.

    2. If we must sign him, he can sign for free in Jan and save us the thick end of £3m

    3. He is not an improvement on what we already have

“He looked fit and his passing was good and showed he’s very much a Hibs player.”

I hope that he remains a Hibs player..

  2. The stupid decision to play McGinn last night will cost Hibernian dearly. Don’t get me wrong, they were well within their rights to play him as he is there player. However knowing you are going to sell him it’s an act of sheer folly. Unless an English club with big money come in, Celtic will do a pre-contract in January and get him for nothing. Celtic would do well to sit and wait and use the money they are going to spend on him and buy two central defenders. Oh and get rid of that crock Comper. He has never been fit since he arrived. Who did the medical on this guy.
Also I would take the money and run for Boyata. He is a calamity looking for locus in every game. Simunovic is also coming into the same bracket.
Lastly Celtic have raked in millions from the Champions league. Now start investing in the team and not electronic light and sound machines

  3. Celtic could easily have stopped Hibs from playing McGinn last night – paid what he is worth prior to the game day. But no, as usual, sell at over inflated prices, Rob other Scottish clubs of their best players by offering a pittance. Hope an English club gazzump Celtic.
