CHRIS SUTTON has reacted to a pivotal night in the title race where the bhoys extended their league to ten points with a thumping 5-0 win at home to hearts while their Glasgow rivals capitulated at Rugby Park.

Sutton was on media duties with BT Sports for the Kilmarnock game and analysed the post-match comments by Steven Gerrard who was super critical of his side again.

The BT pundit believes the Ibrox manager should be taking a lonk look at himself this evening and not going in on his players.

“The question is: what happened during the break?” Sutton stated on Live BT Sport as cited by SunSport.

“Is he going to analyse himself with that? It’s good to hear him come out and take responsibility.

“But what I find worrying, and if I was a Rangers supporter this is what I’d find worrying – the manager questioning the team’s mentality, calling them weak.

“This happened last season. I think the truth is that they went into the break and thought they’d cracked it after the victory at Celtic Park.

“Odsonne Edouard in an article I saw today said that was the best thing that could happen to them (Celtic), losing that game.

“Because they have gone again. And they do seem to be strong mentally.

“But I wouldn’t be happy sitting in the dressing room if the manager is calling out me for having weak mentality.

“It was good to hear him take responsibility but this is the team Steven Gerrard has built. This is his team. He hasn’t just walked into the job. He’s brought the players with the weak mentality.

“He has moulded the team with the weak mentality – is he not just chucking the players under the bus again?”

Celtic made easy work of their own tie, smashing five goals by Hearts on the night. Goals from Olivier Ntcham, Christopher Jullien, Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Jozo Simunovic made it a night to remember at Celtic Park with the crowd not only cheering the goals going in at Celtic Park but down the road in Kilmarnock.

Celtic have come out from the winter break firing on all cylinders while The Rangers have failed to live up to the hype they themselves create. Oh how we laughed.
