Three Israeli sides have joined the race for in-demand Celtic fullback Hatem Elhamed who is expected to leave in January.

As reported by the Daily Record, Maccabi Haifa, Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Tel Aviv are all interested in bringing the defender back to his homeland just over a year since he left.

Elhamed joined the club in a deal that cost Celtic around £1.5 million from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

The right-back got off to a brilliant start in his first few months at the club, putting in several impressive performances in big games such as Rangers and Lazio in the Europa League.

However, his form has dipped and it has since been reported that he has become unsettled at the club due to his family having to move back to Israel which could be the reason for his poor performances.

It is this side of football, fans sometimes don’t consider may be hard for a player. No matter how much they earn, some just can’t settle without their family being here and it has been made even harder due to the Covid-19 pandemic with all the restrictions put in place.
