It’s only been a week since Celtic last took to the pitch, and the withdrawal symptoms are already setting in for the fans.

The longing for football will be alleviated as the team returns for pre-season training, which is still over a month away, but for many supporters, the real anticipation builds towards the first league game of the new season.
Last season, Celtic clinched a memorable League and Cup double, finishing eight points clear of their closest rivals, Rangers. The race was tight until the split, but Celtic managed to surge ahead decisively when it mattered most.
Impressively, they remained unbeaten against Rangers throughout the season, securing four wins and a draw in those fierce derby clashes.
As we look ahead, there are three key dates that Celtic fans should mark on their calendars:
- Fixture Release Day – Thursday, June 27 at 9 AM: The SPFL will unveil the fixture list, which will reveal Celtic’s opponent for the season opener where they will raise their championship flag. This day also sets the stage for the first derby of the season, which will take place at Celtic Park.
- Premiership Kickoff – Weekend of August 2/3/4: The league action kicks off, and Celtic Park will, yet again, be the scene of the celebratory flag day.
- Champions League Matchday 1 – September 17–19, 2024: Celtic’s return to the Champions League group stages is earmarked for mid-September. This season is particularly significant as it represents the last year that winning the SPFL guarantees a spot in the group stage of the competition. A Thursday game could be on the cards.
