Celtic stormed to a dominant 4-0 victory over DC United overnight as the Bhoys got their US tour off to the best possible start.
Goals from Matt O’Riley, Mikey Johnston, and James Forrest were enough for the Hoops to seal a fully deserved win in the American capital.
Brendan Rodgers utilised several players in the match. He had lots to take away from it, so here are three key talking points from the triumph.
O’Riley Classy As Ever
Matt O’Riley played the first 45 and was as classy as ever. He opened the scoring with a smart finish from close range before doubling his side’s lead just after the half-hour mark.

As well as contributing to goals, the 23-year-old covered great ground in midfield, breaking up play nicely at times and maintaining possession.
Wearing the captain’s armband, O’Riley led by example. Celtic fans hope this is not the last they see of the Dane in green and white amid vast transfer interest.
Young Full-backs Impress
Brendan Rodgers gave opportunities to two academy bhoys at right and left-back for Celtic last night.
17-year-old Colby Donovan got the nod on the right and looked capable. He was sound defensively and on the ball. The youngster didn’t take many risks and overall, was adept in the hour he played.
Opposite Donovan was Matthew Anderson. He played the first 45 and stood out.
The former Admira Wacker loanee got up and down the left-hand side with ease, remaining solid at the back but providing an attacking outlet for his side out wide.
Anderson effectively linked up with Luis Palma and was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet at the tail-end of the opening 45.
Forrest Rolls Back The Years
Subbed on for the last half an hour of the match, James Forrest showed his quality by scoring a goal and assisting another.
The veteran sat his man down brilliantly before flashing a dangerous ball across goal which Mikey Johnston tapped home from. He then got in on the act after Yang squared it to him when the Hoops got in behind the DC defence.
It was a vintage Forrest performance as he rolled back the years in an eye-catching cameo.
Up next for Celtic in their US tour is a clash with English champions Manchester City midweek.
The tie will be a completely different challenge for Rodgers’ side than what last night’s game was, but it will prove a useful exercise nonetheless.
