There have been THREE major behind the scene exits at Celtic Park over the last couple of months.

Head of of football operations – Nicky Hammond.

Head of scouting – Gary Penrice.

Head of Sport Science – Jack Nayler.

That’s three major positions at the club and the worrying part is we’ve heard nothing about their replacements.

Dom McKay told CeltsAreHere he was looking at the business and how to formulate the best structure for the club. However, in the interim, we’re running on fumes when it comes to recruitment and head of Sports Science leaving his post to join Leipzig is a big setback.

Jack was at the club for five years – brought in by Brendan Rodgers. Sports science is a pivotal role in the players development.

Gary Penrice headed up the scouting department. Right now, Celtic are likely using his underlings to help with Ange’s rebuild but we certainly need direction.

Nicky Hammond was a director of football without the title – but it was a wasted position with Peter Lawwell still in the building. The outgoing CEO was a massive micromanager for the club.

Dominic McKay has a hell of a job on his hands putting a structure in place and filling these positions.
