January traditionally isn’t a busy time for Celtic in the transfer market. If even half the talk of Brendan Rodgers targets are correct, that could soon change.

I’ve always thought it made more sense to bring in new faces in January and have them gel when you need to play Champions League qualifiers in July. With that being said here is three out of a larger group of names being mentioned. We already spoke about Liam Moore from Reading yesterday.

Alfred Finnbogason

Name ring a bell? That’s because Celtic have been linked with the player for the past number of seasons. He’s now 28 years of age and has enjoyed mixed success at different clubs. One of the seasons Celtic showed interest he got snapped up by Real Sociedad. The 7 Millon Pound price tag causing the hoops to bow out at the time. He’s now rumoured to be in around the 3-4 million pound and he’s playing with FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga. He’s found the net 7 times in 14 games for them. Finnbogason has played for Iceland 45 times.

Richmond Boakye

Brendan Rodgers has stated his love of player development is what will keep him at Celtic long term. Boakye is only 24, but he’s been around the block. The Ghanaian striker spent a lot of his time in Italy with Genoa, Atalanta and he even caught the eye of Juventus in 2012. He’s spent a lot of his career out on loan; he’s currently on loan with Red Star Belgrade. He’s also represented his country 12 times.

Jamie Murphy

Another 28-year-old, the Glasgow born winger currently plies his trade with Brighton in the EPL. Murphy previously played for Motherwell before moving down south to Sheffield United. He’s never represented Scotland at senior level.
