With the number of players who have already left the club this summer, you could be forgiven for thinking there would be no more outgoings before the end of this window.

The simple fact is, this Celtic squad was so bloated it lost more than 11 players and it still seems a little bloated.

Of course, the new signings take up space in the team and the players who are pushed further down the pecking order, as a result, have to make a choice – as does the club.

Three men who stick out like a sore thumb right now and could do with either a permanent move away from the club or at least a loan move are Jack Hendry, Eboue Kouassi and Anthony Ralston.

Jack Hendry has made just over 20 appearances for Celtic in a year and a half and when he has played the defender’s looked out of his depth at times. With Jullien coming in and Jozo, Ajer and Hatem being able to play centre-half, the Scottish defender’s time is going to be limited. A move would be for the best.

Eboue Kouassi came in back in 2017 and again hasn’t done much. Players in front of him stopping him from getting game time and a season-ending injury three months into last season curtailed any hope of a breakthrough. After recovering from the ACL injury the midfielder is back training but may also find his time of the first team field limited. A loan move could be the way forward. Eboue can get some game time and the club can assess his progress.

Anthony Ralston has come through the ranks and flirted with the first team at points, never really making the breakthrough. The writing seems on the wall for the young defender when Neil Lennon opts to play a midfielder at centre back and a centre back at right back instead of using his only right back for the first two Champions League qualifiers. It would appear as if Lennon doesn’t fancy the big defender. Time for a move to prove some people wrong?

  1. Ralston? Are you kidding? He has earned a go at least as back up. We still do not have a right back to let our only right back go out on loan would be madness. He needs game time. Seems solid enough. Give him a chance
