There will be a decent amount of movement in the summer with regards to transfers at Celtic Park.

There are some players surplus to requirements and others who we can’t afford to keep.

Here are three players most likely to leave this summer after another successful season.

Jozo Simunovic

Since the Hearts defeat in December, the defender has rarely been seen. His loss of form compounded by the rise of Kristoffer Ajer who has taken the Bosnian’s place and never looked back. Jozo had his best season for the club last term in the invincible season where he made the iconic tackle on Kenny Miller that we immortalised in a t-shirt.

The defender is still under contract and will command a decent fee if he does go.

Dorus de Vries

A goalkeeper who came into replace Craig Gordon but didn’t last long between the sticks. His second run this season ended up with him being replaced by emergency loan signing Scott Bain who has already usurped the Dutchman as number two.

It has to go down as a poor signing by Brendan Rodgers on this occasion and with the Irishman keen to sign Bain on a permanent deal, it’s inevitable that Dorus will head for the exit.

Patrick Roberts

Not what a lot of people want to hear as Patrick has been a great servant for Celtic, even though his run this year has been curtailed by injuries. Last summer there was a clamour to see the tricky winger signed on a permanent basis which Man City rebuffed.

A lot of Celtic fans would love to see Roberts come in full time next season but given the amount of money that City would want for their midfielder – it’s highly unlikely Rodgers would want to blow his budget on Paddy when he has Christie coming back in as well as Lewis Morgan.

On top of that, you have James Forrest in the best form of his Celtic career – a huge reason why Roberts remains on the sidelines even though he was fully fit.

  1. yes i agree with the exit and it will be sad to see them go all willing to give their all for our great team , but i will be most sad about paddy , my opinion is that he is a far more superior player than forrest , think that james been of the boil in last few games and paddy been so unlucky not tobe on for many games , different class is paddy and so much more to come from him . so i hope above all odds that we will get a deal on him will pray for it , would be a great assett to celtic . but if these players go i wish them all the best in their future and that they have a good life , must thank them for all the pleasure they have brought into my life god bless xxx

  2. Roberts will definitely go as he isn’t our player and as was pointed out we have a couple of players coming in who can easily step in to that position, the other two could prove more difficult to shift as they are both on comfortable contracts and if they wanted to could bide their time and see those contracts out .
