The Green Brigade have this morning put out a banner at the front of Celtic Park saying ‘Save the ten – time to go Neil.’

The Celtic supporter’s group have always used banners to get their point across but with no fans allowed in stadiums they have felt compelled to go to Celtic Park and make their voiced heard.

Celtic are due at Celtic Park this morning to go through a training session before heading off on a flight later today to take on Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday. The banner was only held up so it’s doubtful any of the team or manager will see it when they head to Celtic Park.

It’s a strong message and visual but we can’t help but think this will create an opposite reaction with some backing Neil Lennon after this treatment.

It is a respectful message but it piles more pressure on the manager ahead of a crazy run of fixtures.

The GB also released a statement:

Neil Lennon and many of the current Celtic squad have delivered unprecedented success for our club and deserve enormous credit for their achievements. However, past accomplishments are not enough to excuse the level of performance and lack of desire we have endured throughout this momentous season.

Despite having the best squad in the country, the football on display has been dismal, lacking in ideas and belief. Many of our best players have disappointed and we have performed poorly both domestically and in European competition, winning only 2 games from our previous 8. Whilst we would love nothing more than to see Neil Lennon win us the championship, we are part of a growing element of the Celtic support that has sadly concluded that he is unable to turn our season around.

After a decade of unrivalled footballing and financial dominance, it is disappointing to find ourselves 11 points off the league summit and virtually out of the Europa League, having failed to make it past even the second round of qualification for the Champions League. We appreciate all that Neil Lennon has done for the club and endured in his time in Scotland, however, there is simply too much at stake to persevere in hope rather than expectation, and a managerial change needs to be made.

Celtic Football Club is bigger than us all, and the good of the club must come first. Peter Lawwell and the Celtic board must act now in a bid to save 10-in-a-row as well as their own legacies. Should they fail to deliver this title, it
will be them who are held to account.

  1. A bit late I think, not that injuries and suspensions have really mattered on either side of Glasgow. If Neil can’t help his ego, no one can. Time to go for his Id. Stopping the ten means more to the foe as winning it means to the Green nursery. The Hoops have started something they can’t really be bothered to finish. Now the foe can win their first ever. It’s cost Rifc/sevco plenty and after Xmas even more.

But changing the way Neil thinks, is impossible. As they don’t know how much Neil and Celtic have suffered in silence behind those doors. It never cost Celtic much to do the first nine. Never cost Celtic Plc to do there’s much either. Just wait until its all over (bar the bedsheet printed protests) and complain then as usual. For a new boss. Like when Cfc Plc sacked Tommy Burns (Tragedy) and brought in Vim Jansen, then sacked Vim a year later. And eventually got MON and Invested again.
So is it worth investing in Neil or not. I say yes, but does the cheeseboard?? No if they fail, they will still get European football and money for finishing a poor second.
