Tom Rogic has tonight sent a heartfelt message to the Celtic support as he prepared to board a flight to Dubai to join up with his country.

Celtic were desperate to hold onto the player for the Glasgow Derby before letting him go to play in the Asia Cup but FIFA rules dictate a club must release their player when they are called up.

After extensive talks with the FFA and Tom Rogic making a personal plea to the Australia manager Graham Arnold it was decided by the Socceroos that Rogic MUST join up with the rest of his teammates after the Boxing Day game against Aberdeen.

Celtic are now without one of their top players when they visit Govan on Saturday.

Rogic has been a big game player for the Bhoys in this fixture over the past few years and the Australian will be a big miss.

Hopefully it will give another Celtic player the chance to carve his own piece of derby history.

We wish Tom a safe flight and all the best for the Asia Cup.
