Former Celtic frontman Tommy Johnson could be set to return to Scotland as head of recruitment at Aberdeen.

Johnson spent around five years at the club as a player between 1997 and 2001 and was at one point close to a return as head of recruitment at the Hoops under Neil Lennon just two seasons ago, but it was ultimately blocked by the hierarchy at the club.

As reported by Not The Old Firm, the 50-year old who currently holds that same role at Blackpool could finally be set to return to Scotland with Aberdeen.

The Dons are undergoing a restructuring behind the scenes of their own and could look to bring Johnston to the club as the new head of recruitment after Russ Richardson left that role last month.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first ex Celt to be at Aberdeen next season, with former captain, Scott Brown completing his move to Pittodrie just a few months ago.
