The Soccernomics Youtube channel produced a Vlog on Celtic and what’s happened to them over the past ten years.

The channel looked at Celtic’s fortunes and finances as well as offering their outside perspective on why Celtic are where they are.

They got it spot on when it came to the board. The Celtic hierarchy got too comfortable with winning and never looked to take the club beyond what they could do in Scotland.

We had an outstanding manager in Brendan Rodgers and while we do have issues with the way Brendan left – it was clear one of the reasons why the Irishman walked, in the end, is because he recognised he couldn’t take us any further under the parameters set by the board.

Rodgers had conquered Scottish football pretty easily, but Europe is where we were found wanting and when push came to shove, we missed out on a number of top targets because the board weren’t willing to stick their neck out.

Soccernomics talks about the impact of Rangers liquidation and the complacency that brought to Celtic.

When it came to the playing side of things, their observations were alright but they did admit they lack depth. Joe Hart’s transfer, for example, was cited as short-termism, but in reality, we needed that sort of stability this season.

  1. We never got complacent, we downsized year on year to let a form of rangers catch up hence save the blue pound, not all fans are stupid.
