Former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell believes the Ibrox club made a big mistake by overly celebrating their win against Celtic at the end of last year.

They beat the bhoys 2-1 at Parkhead and the celebrations, led by their manager suggested they thought they had one hand on the trophy.

Instead, Celtic got their head down and worked hard during the winter break and now find themselves ten points clear at the top of the table.

Caldwell believes those celebrations at Celtic Park have fuelled a fire in the bhoys and is a big reason they have started 2020 with a winning streak.

“The game before the break that Rangers won was a big game. I felt like they kind of over-celebrated that game.” Caldwell told Sportsound as cited by SunSport.

“There was too much emotion from Rangers when there was still a long, long way to go. And I think it fuelled the fire for Celtic.

“They have come back after this break really determined, really driven and this is the time where momentum will play a big part so I see Celtic winning it.”

Celtic have won every single game they’ve played so far in 2020. It shouldn’t be a surprise given before the defeat to Steven Gerrard’s men we had gone on an 11 game winning streak.

Neil Lennon has been here and done it before. He’s not getting carried away even though Celtic are in a strong position. He’s keeping his players on their toes and hungry.
