CHRIS SUTTON has slammed ‘wasteful’ Celtic after they lost a very late goal to drop two points at Fir Park but also admitted the standard of refereeing in this country is ‘awful’.

Celtic should have been 2-0 up and cruising but referee Kevin Clancy disallowed Filip Benkovic’s acrobatic stretch to put the ball in the back of the net in the first half.

The Croatian appeared to lose his marker and with the defender all over the place and holding onto Filip’s arm the Celtic star managed to stretch out his leg and score a quite impressive goal. However, it was called off immediately with many of the Celtic players unsure.

Replays show Clancy has made a big mistake.

However, Celtic had more than this chance to bury the game and won a penalty in the first half but the bhoys missed their second penalty in as many games and from then they fell out of the game.

Motherwell’s equaliser was a fine finish but Celtic will know they have shot themselves in the foot.

  1. BT has offered to pay for VAR for a trial period. If the football authorities don’t accept that offer, then it is definite proof that they are hiding the “honest mistakes”. Why not accept such an offer? Well, perhaps it will show up exactly how bad our referees are and how corrupt out football authorities are.

  2. On the other hand, it may make the referees more careful in getting decisions correct. This may also prove to be a bad thing for the authorities. Corruption and incompetence abounds.
