CELTIC have been heavily linked with Bolton’s Luca Connell since the start of the transfer window with the youngster being available for a small FIFA enforced trainee fee.

Bolton have not got the defensive midfielder on a professional deal so Luca is free to leave in search of another club this summer if he wishes.

The troubled Reebok side are still in administration and it looks like the player will be heading out before the season begins.

Asked about the Celtic interest in him, Luca was cool about it but he said it would be an ‘honour’ to play for the club.

“Obviously, everyone knows about Celtic,” Luca told the Irish Mirror.

“It’s a massive club. It would be an honour to represent them if that’s what the final decision was. I’m keeping my options open and hopefully I can get one in the next few weeks.”

Celtic are trying to get players in before the start of their Champions League campaign. Luca would be another guy to come in and hope to develop quickly in order to get game time. The 20-year-old made 10 Championship appearances for the club last term and he’ll be looking to get first team football where he goes.
