Vakoun Bayo is a player who failed to impress in the limited chances he received at Celtic and two years on from signing finds himself on loan at French Ligue 2 side Toulouse.

After getting off to a fast start with two goals on his debut, the Ivorian striker struggled for a period. Now though he finds himself back in the first-team plans, having three-goal contributions in three games, including two well-taken goals since his return to the squad in France.

He continued this revival, playing 71 minutes in Toulouse’s 1-0 win over Sochaux. After the game though, the boss of the Ligue 2 side had some very interesting comments regarding the fitness of the striker, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“Bayo has shown to be efficient and he is currently in a physical shape he has never experienced since arriving.”

It might be nitpicking a little bit but these sort of comments are a bit concerning if you ask me.

In a way, it suggests that the players coming from Celtic aren’t in the fittest of conditions and it has taken Bayo some time to get up to speed to get back full potential in terms of fitness.

This also goes along with the claim that many fans have been making about Neil Lennon’s side this season about not looking the fittest of teams, which is again a huge concern for all involved with the club.
