It was feared Celtic were fighting a losing battle trying to keep a hold of youth player Josh Adam and it’s proven to be the case.
The 16-year-old has moved to the Etihad to continue his development after the English side made a play for the attacking midfielder.
According to SunSport, the youngster caught the eye of Manchester City scouts at a Marc Overmars tournament where Adam’s turned out in the Hoops.
Celtic had high hopes for the player but will now see their work to this point undone.
It’s becoming a worrying trend for clubs like Celtic who have no choice but to try and develop their own players. Clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich to name a few are now trying to land players at a very young age from clubs with less financial clout and bringing them into their youth systems.
The club may have to re-think their strategy in the coming months and years.
